Energy suppliers are pushed from two sides. Competition, local production and open markets have diminished margins on their core products electricity and natural gas. Suppliers must optimize their offering to their customer, add new services and innovative products & services, and look at customers as a partner rather than only a source of profits. Customer retention and acquisition, tuning of the product portfolio, time-to-market of new products are key. Keeping costs under control is the other side: optimal sourcing is crucial, keep IT expenses acceptable, avoid ‘revenue leaks’, and survive regulatory requirements such as imposed market models and their implementation.
